Help Us Bring Music Lessons to Low-Income Children

Little Masters Project

Building a Better Tomorrow Through Music

You can change a student's future by making a contribution today!

Did you know that providing access to music is one of the best investments we can make to strengthen our communities and provide a brighter future for students?

In September of 2017, the Masters Players Concert Series at the University of Delaware will launch the Little Masters Project, (LMP), a new outreach initiative that will provide free private music lessons and instruments to children in low-income Delaware communities. Our aim is to provide music education and opportunities to less fortunate students because we believe experiencing live music is essential for children of all backgrounds.

The first school to benefit from this program will be the Bayard Middle School in Wilmington, DE and we hope to bring this program to other schools in Wilmington, Newark and surrounding areas. Participating students will be given instruments to keep and will receive free music lessons from our talented instructors during after-school hours both at Bayard Middle School and on the University of Delaware's campus. LMP will also inspire the students by providing them a once-in-a-life-time performance opportunity to share the stage with professional musicians in the future.

Give the Gift of Music

In order to bring this wonderful program to life, we need your help. A contribution of $50 will cover one lesson for one student. A contribution of $700 will sponsor one student for one semester of 14 weekly lessons. We are also accepting donations of used instruments for the students to play (contact us at masterplayers@udel.edu). All donations are tax-deductible, and the more we raise, the more kids we can help.

Students involved with arts and music are:

2x more likely to graduate
3x more likely to win an award for school attendance
4x as likely to be recognized for academic achievement
