Help Us Build a Concrete Canoe!

ASCE - Concrete Canoe (2017)

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at the University of Delaware strives to assist members in making career decisions via speaker events, activities, inter-school competitions and presentations. Members actively research various disciplines within civil engineering.

Our chapter's goal is to educate members about new engineering technologies and advancement, as well as promote ethical practices. ASCE competes regionally and nationally each year with 3 competition teams. One of those competition teams is a concrete canoe team. The team designs and builds a canoe made completely of concrete which they display, present, and race at competitions. Donations would go to research and materials to be used during the design/build phase.

The competition provides civil engineering students an opportunity to gain hands-on, practical experience and leadership skills by working with concrete mix designs and project management. Students must design, construct and race a canoe made entirely of concrete. Canoes are judged on a design paper, race results, oral presentation, canoe weight, width, and length, as well as canoe and display aesthetics.

By making a gift to support the ASCE Canoe team you are helping to provide the materials needed for our canoe. Please make a gift today!
