Interaction Design Development
Support the Interaction Design Graduate Program
2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Visual Communications BFA program, which has produced many of the top creative people in the advertising, graphic design and applied photography industries.
2017 also marks the inauguration of our new Interaction Design graduate program, built on the strengths and legacy of our VC program. The IxD program provides students with the opportunity to extend and amplify their creative potential with new technologies by blending conceptual development with hands-on making processes. The VC BFA program creates incredibly creative people and the IxD MA program allows them to dig deeper and make an even greater impact in our technologically-saturated global culture.
Current IxD student projects include developing assistive technologies for children afflicted with Arthrogryposis, a debilitating condition involving abnormal fibrosis of muscle tissue causing them extreme inability with everyday tasks. IxD students are creating prototypes so that these children can begin to gain independence with the most basic activity: eating.
IxD students are also exposed to the greater world of interaction design through field trips and participation in the annual Maker Faire in New York City. These experiences allow IxD students to learn first-hand about new technologies and their applications to the creative industries.
And as you can imagine, these efforts to educate our students takes resources that are above and beyond the basic operations of the program. Supporting the IxD program means you are directly helping to provide materials and experiences to these students so that they can have the opportunities to make the greatest impact on the world.
We welcome you to visit campus and see for yourself what they are up to, and greatly appreciate your support.
