Alternative Break – Habitat for Humanity in New Bern, NC
The Blue Hen Leadership Program's 6th annual Alternative Spring Break trip takes students to New Bern, North Carolina to help the community build affordable housing for its citizens through Habitat for Humanity.
Our team works on everything from drywall, to framing, even building a tool shed! Over the course of one week, our group becomes a family as participants eat, sleep, work, and learn together every day. The quaint town of New Bern welcomes BHLP students with its famous southern hospitality to make for an incredible week. This Spring Break Trip offers great opportunities to make new friends, reflect on a personal level, learn new insights about service and community engagement, and gain a greater appreciation for what we usually take for granted.
Make a gift today to help UD students support a community in need.
This experience allows us to deepen our understanding of leadership, service, and community engagement while helping a small town become a better community. Past participants of this trip have said the experience "is one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had," while another student noted that "going to sleep exhausted every night feels great when you know that it's because you've impacted someone's life for the better!"
Thank you for your support!
